This claim is false. However, the number of viruses and their
effectiveness is so low, that you probably won't need an antivirus
solution. ClamAV and AVG have Linux versions.

What do you mean by updates about 'Linux'? The linux you use is
actually an aggregation of thousands of pieces of software written by
different people. You will have to track news and updates of each part
separately. There may be sites which aggregate news. Maybe your
distribution's website has something of that sort.
