I'm no expert on this.. but here's what I think.
Have you made sure that TOMCAT is bound to all interfaces? What does
the netstat -a command give you? It should be something like:

% netstat -na | grep 8080
tcp46      0      0  *.8080                 *.*                    LISTEN
% _

It might be that its only running on localhost:
% netstat -na | grep 8080
tcp4       0      0  127.0.0.1.8080         *.*                    LISTEN
% _
