<div dir="auto">USB boot was using SDRam card of 4.0 GB inserted in camera type adapter. The card "received free" along Fly F-32 phone that was bought in year 2013 at Ponda GOA.<br><br></div>
<div dir="auto">On same card I tried almost all other distributions previously Mint, CentOS as well as Mageia 6. They did not work, neither could install boot loader.<br><br></div>
<div dir="auto">Finally yesterday I cleaned MBR of disk using disk tools like I used to do if LILO got corrupted. <br><br></div>
<div dir="auto">Then today Mageia 6.1 live image booted cleanly.<br><br></div>
<div dir="auto">Learning quite a bit along the journey..<br><br></div>

Was finally able to boot back into Mageia 6.1 today.

While booting it shows "Linux Mint" splash (after boot selection...) which must remained somewhere during attempts of CentOS, OpenSuSE, Mageia 6/7, Linux Mint Mate (मते = votes)

Though CentOS 7 attempt made me aware of lack of awareness, it did not go past certain steps of install w.r.t. using previous partitions.

Linux Mint has decided to live along Mageia 6 (which is broken) and gone ahead with installing files... Install cleaner than CentOS.

I think I have found what was the missing piece of information that was stopping GRUB installation in Mageia.
