Here are the BIOS settings on my PC:
BIOS->Advanced->Drive configuration
ATA/IDE Configuration: [Enhanced|Legacy]
If set to Enhanced, all drive controllers are enabled (all SATA + all PATA).
If set to Legacy, at most 4 drives can be connected (I've selected SATA
P1/P2 + PATA secondary)
(This includes 2 slots of SATA and PATA secondary master and
slave; my harddisk is connected in SATA slot and combo drive goes in PATA
secondary master slot).
Initially, say for SuSE 9.0 etc, I had to use "Legacy" setting as above, but
now (don't remember exactly when I changed this) I'm using "Enhanced"
setting and SuSE 9.2, 9.3, 10.0 work well (don't remember about 9.1).
HTH,
Kapil
