[PLUG] Tata Indicom Broadband on Linux

OK, this is what I have done till now:

ifconfig eth0  <static_ip> netmask 255.0.0.0
route add default gw <gateway_ip> netmask 255.0.0.0

The route gets added, but I'm unable to ping the gateway's IP address.
