Hi all,
This is in continuation of my previous post on SkillsCamp3
which was held recently http://barcamp.org/SkillsCampPune . This is
again going to one of those long posts so please be aware of that ;).
The good points , one got to meet whole lot of new people,
maybe see/learn a few things & generally have a good time.

After the day was completed I have/had few questions though,
namely when & where the videos would be uploaded. It would be great if
it was done in .ogg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.ogg, in fact the
open thank-you letter published by xiph.org is also hilarious & should
be really looked at http://www.xiph.org/vorbis/openletter.html .
Coming to the content itself, even if its going to be in some other
format & then converted to .ogg there would be something like 10-15%
of conversion loss. In fact that should be an interesting project if
either somebody makes a chip which does conversion on the fly (from
RAW video) or take one of the existing chips shown at
http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/VorbisHardware & merge it with one of
the Digital Video Cameras. If you look at it Korea is way ahead of us
in that. In any case if it is made to .ogg it might be a good idea to
put it on http://www.ourmedia.org/ or if Symbiosis has enough
web-space they could do one of the 3 things :-
1. The conventional download :- Just put the stuff up & let people
download, the downer is they would be paying for other people
downloading.
2. A .torrent file :- Make a .torrent file & have it being centrally
seeded. Dunno how they look at it, some people have their own views &
don't understand the difference between the message & the messenger.
After all its just a way to transport files.
3. A metalink file :- This is kinda the new kid on the block.
http://metalinker.org/ The essentials are simple, upload a file to
various sites, maybe upload a .torrent file to some public .torrent
service, make a file (very much like an .xml file having tags & all)
The other thing/issue I was thinking of what license it
would be under, the best would be under public domain but hey let's
have some discussion what people think about that. IIRC it's a
community-based thing.

One of the seminars was of game programming, while I didn't attend the
lecture/seminar maybe http://pyweek.org/ would also have been a worth
a mention. The programmer learns some stuff about python while users
like me get some little game at the end of the contest ;)

Till next time ;)
