Hi Santam,
If you have permantant IP given by TATA Indicom broadband then
configuration is very with ubuntu Linux.
1.Just boot your PC in windows
2. Open Ehternet /LAN settings in windows XP
3. Note down all the IP address
4. Copy all the IP addresses in Ubuntu LAN settings.
