I have a HP laptop with an inbuilt webcam (lsusb shows this as ID
0c45:62c0 Microdia), and it works fine with kopete.

Unless you're a server admin, do you really care about LTS?  Kubuntu
8.04 does not have PulseAudio enabled by default (this was on an
upgrade from Feisty), and neither is it a LTS release.
