[PLUG] Cannot connect to BSNL broadband in Ubuntu 8

I have BSNL broadband in bridging mode in windows i dial with username and
password,
so how should I do it in ubuntu. When I keep it on Always on PPPoE mode then
it works
but there no much speed for torrent downloading. Also tell me how to get the
downloading
speed for torrents as that on the windows with BitCommet.
