[PLUG] Ubuntu 8.10 GRUB problem - only shows memtest option

I booted with LiveCD
then tried finding vmlinuz

ubuntu at ubuntu:~$ find -type f -iname '*vmlin*' 2>/dev/null

it produced lot of results including

/cdrom/casper/vmlinuz
