Firefox can be a big memory hog at times.

You have to also take into account memory used for buffers and cache
in the meminfo.
The system monitor gui value is correct. See also 'free' command.

No I mean a barebones minimal CD (of around 12MB) that you use, and
get everything else from the Internet. You can get it from
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD
Similar to netinst Debian CD.
