In other news (not from Microsoft's own PR machine)

"Microsoft opensource some parts of .NET to try and stem the tide of
industry and developers treating it as a legacy platform".

"Today Microsoft opensourced some small parts of their .NET framework
and made available a free version of visual studio, whilst announcing to
the world the the very big headline of opensourcing .NET which they are
not actually doing in earnest"

"Microsoft also announced that they would finally follow what Java did a
decade ago and make .Net cross platform. It was later pointed out that
the term cross platform was used by mistake and they had really intended
to say - 'a few other platforms like what's that thing the geeks down
there in the basement use? Lindroid? Roboux? Lindroios?'"

In short, big fanfare, repeated all over the net by the Microsoft PR
machine. Please excuse the satire if it offends you!
