@Amey - I had a chat with some freenode staff to get answers to your
questions. Please find them inline.

What it means is - "Freenode will acknowledge that the group is
officially registered and has a group contact that can handle all
issues with the channel"

Issues here are complaints against the content on the channel or
complaint against how it is moderated and so on.

Quoting the staff member here - "mostly its just a good way for us to
be able to track who we support - you're more than welcome to use the
network without registration but its got some nice flash and can ease
some administrative stuff if thats what you want"

#pluggies is our official channel but there is no active moderation /
management. This group registration activity will distribute the
responsibility across members easing the "administrative stuff" that
the staff member referred to.

I also discovered last week that there is #punelug channel which was
registered a long time ago but is completely dormant these days. I'd
like to add this to the list of channels that we would own as part of
the group registration.

I'll go ahead with this process next weekend with the following IRC
nicks as part of the primary group contacts for freenode:

1. Dexter_OSC
2. whereistejas
3. dhanesh95

If anyone has any queries or issues with this, please shout at me
before Friday, 18th Sept 2020.
