Tell us what program (in all above distros) you are using to log into
the Sify network.
I don't have Sify broadband, but vaguely recall that Sify needs a
special client (on the Linux desktop) to connect to the 'Net.
Google search "sify linux client" gives several hits. I had a cursory
look at the top 3. You might want to try those solutions to solve your
problem.

Is there a special Windows client for Sify?
PS - Please compose a "new" message for your problem rather than
recycling message from another thread; changing the subject line is not
a sufficient condition. Your posting has messed up the "I want to
rewrite ..." thread in my KMail client.
