[PLUG] Cups Query

Hi all,
My name is amit & i just joined this community. I m working on linux since
last one year. So u can say i m an L1 linux user.. I have a very strange
query ie:

I have one doubt regarding lpadmin's  two options ie -o
job-quota-period=604800  & -o job-page-limit=2. If i install any printer &
configure these options for the same, ie not working. Even its not
updating /etc/cups/printers.conf file. I tried hp laserjet 9040 printer or
generic text only. After going through lot of forums i found two solutions
ie
1. Printer should support that option
2. Its a bug with cups 1.2 version. We should go for 1.3.9 or newer
version.
I tried 2nd option, but having no luck.
Can u pls give m idea on this topic. I am really stuck with this & my
project too.
Please let me know any further i/ps required from my side..
