These days most distros can also boot from a USB stick (aka pen drive).
See if that suits you more.

A good internet connection is what you'll need anyway, even after
installing from CD or pen drive, to work with Linux, such as to update
software etc. So you might as well sort that issue out and if you can do
that, you can download it yourself anyway.

BTW if you are completely new and just want to experience an OS first, you
may want to download a live CD / usb image to just try the OS out without
having to install.
