Haven't kept up with the AMD CPU line so don't know if the Ryzen
lineup support Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) [a]

If you plan to run to VMs then more vCPU you have, the better it is +
the RAM to support.  Lenovo gaming laptop has Core i7-8750 (6 cores)
and with HT you get 12 vCPU.  RAM start with 16GB (1 DIMM) and leave
DIMM slots for later expansion.

[a] (Hyper Threading in Intel lingo for multiple (2) threads per core).
